Hello all,

I trying to find out what the community thinks of game boards for PC games. I'm in a tough spot as a gamer. I LOVE the better graphics, shorter (usually) load times, mods, lower prices, etc that come along with PC gaming, but I HATE, the input method for most games (kb/m).

No matter how much I try I can't get used to the WASD for movement, or the buttons for commands being scattered all over the damn place.

Since I started building my own gaming rigs circa 2007/8 game pad support (360 controller) has been the make or break variable when buying a game. It's the reason I play Bioshock 1 and not Bioshock 2, its the reason I play Borderlands 1 & 2 and not any of the recent CoD or BF games.

All that being said, what do you guys think of game boards/keypads. When I was living on campus back in grad school, one of my roommates played a lot of WOW with this thing.

He said it was comfortable and was easy to get used to. If i were to get one, I'd go this route.

Has anybody used these? What are your impressions? There are some PC games I really want to try to get into (not multiplayer) that I have avoided because they don't use the 360 controller. I hear Guild Wars 2 is great and I want to catch up on the CoD games after 4 (beat that on ps3).

Any advice helps. Thanks.

I was in pretty much the same position as you a few years ago. The only difference was: I'm a lefty! So these keypads are not an option for me :(

But if I was a righty, I would of tried these pads for sure. However these are really love or hate, so it really depends on the user. My recommendation to you would be to go in your local big chain electronic store (like Best Buy if you're from the States), and try to get one there just to test it out. You can then try it at home for a few weeks and return it before 30 days if you're unsatisfied with the feel of it (or if you ARE satisfied, but you paid too much :p).

I'm also a lefty. Does that make any difference on how these pads are used? I guess I could go the buy and return route but I want to see if anybody has had first hand experience with them before doing all that.

The G13 does work for lefties for the most part. The only part that doesn't is the joystick. Most people don't like to use the joystick, though I do highly recommend learning to, as it is a nice advantage. I've also seen people move the joystick to the left side by modifying it, though it doesn't look like an easy job to do.

I've used both, but prefer the G13. The Nostromo is a little better ergonomically, though I prefer the G13 Lua software, and extra buttons.

The joystick would be about 70% of why I would buy it. Now i'm confused about how its somewhat problematic for lefties.

The joystick in on the right side of the board, the thumb on a left hand is on the right side of the hand, this seems like it works out just fine. What problems are you referring to?

Because left handers use the mouse in their left hand, and use the gamepad in the right.

Hmmm? I'm left handed and i've never used the mouse in my left hand. I'm brought up on console gaming so the left thumb always controlled the d-psd or left stick for movement so I'd just use the joystick on these pads in my left had and mouse in my right.

You use your mouse and keyboard just like right handers, so you don't have to worry about it. You are covered.
