I recently bought a H100i in the hopes of overclocking my i7 3770K to over 4 GHz, and i was wiping of the standard thermal paste a bit fell in to the crack between the plastic and copper. Someone thought it was a good idea to open the screws to get it out I told him not to worry about because it was going to let the coolant out, but he went ahead and did and about 3mls to 5mls of coolant dripped out. he said that he had pressure on it the entire time so no air got in.

I tired the H100 out and I'm getting temps of 36 on a 25-8 day when the box said 4.5 GHz maxed out on a 25 degree ambient so it doesn't make sense to me. In any case i was just wondering do you think the small coolant leak is affecting the performance of the H100 and should get another.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry if this in the wrong forum.

Didn't quite follow the description of the temps, what are the temps at idle and what are they at full stress, the cpu is overclocked to 4.5ghz ? In normale use what are the temps, any games played and which ones. Your ambient temps are outside , inside the house , inside the case.
A small leak should not affect the performance of the H-100i but it's also not intended to be opened and should remain closed.

It's not leaking, they were cleaning some thermal compound and decided to loosen a fitting to get at the rest of it and some coolant leaked out. Now they want to know if that's ok that some coolant leaked out, but it's not leaking as they are using it.

Yeah sorry I didn't explain it well i was in a rush. My CPU idles at about 30 degrees, stress test is around 48 to 50 and games 42 to 45. (CPU is not overclocked)
I have played games using it which include:

Sniper Ghost Warrior 2
Crysis 1,2,3
Assassins Creed Brotherhood, 3 etc
Minecraft
Modern Warfare 3
I think you get the jist of it. Also i think i my have put to much thermal paste on so that could be a factor.

Im in Sydney so it about 18 to 23 usually as we approach winter.

Do you think I should get a new one, also is the Noctua NH-D14 as good as or better, because my friend said that it a lot
easier to install and is low maintenance, and performs great.

The NH-D14 performs about the same as a H100i for a lot (especially in Aus) less, but since you'v already got the H100i I don't see any point in buying a heatsink that would offer similar performance.

I think you'l be fine, just you may run into issues such as air-locks since you introduced air into the loop. I would keep an eye on temps for a while, to make sure that the pump on the H100i hasn't failed or is compromised in some way.

I think you should reapply the thermal compound first before you make any decisions, by having too much you will have the opposite affect of the heat transfer and the thick coating of thermal compound will act like an insulator and keep the heat from being effectively transferred.
