Hi can anyone throw some light on my query. I am confused by my processors performance because with all the settings in Bios set to default and no adjustments made in the Asus Suite my processor is running at 4120 MHZ. My Mobo is an Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard, Processor is Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K CPU (4 x 3.40GHz, Ivy Bridge, Socket 1155, 6Mb L3 Cache, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0) and memory is Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 Vengeance Memory. Graphics card is an AMD MSI 7870 oc 2 gig version. I have checked and double checked everything even putting bios back to default settings but still it reads 4120 MHz in the Asus suite Turbo Evo software latest version.

It isn't overheating although I only have the stock fan on it, it rarely goes above 50c although I frequently game with it e.g. BF3, Crysis 2, Tomb raider, F1 2012 etc. It has been really stable no crashes, glitches or anything I,ve also run the Unique benchmark full whack with no problems. I am planning to change the stock fan with a Thermalright True Spirit asap but still have no concerns about the current temps.

So am I reading something wrong or is this a characteristic of the processor or motherboard or am I just being a bit dense or is it something to do with the memory speed. My understanding is the default speed of the processor should be 3.40 ghz. Thanks for any response in advance.

Hi Ihog I don't disagree with you but my understanding of Turbo Evo is that unless I tell it to overclock it doesn't and as I haven't told it too it doesn't make a lot of sense. I have 2 operating W7 64 systems on my PC one for work and the other for play and the overclock is identical on both.
