hi there, i make up my mind and i decided to also change my old CRT monitor into an LCD. Now i think i'll go with a 120Hz monitor ( or superior ) cause i still play a lot of games where refresh make a difference ( quakelive, quake 3 etc etc ).

Which one do you sudgest?

I've found two Benq's that could do the trick :

http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/xl2411t/

http://www.benq.com/product/monitor/xl2420t/

Now from what i've heard, the xl2411t is also capable of 144hz, instead of 120 of the xl2420. Is there anything else i should know about them?

Any other sudgestion?

thanks a lot

Can your GPU give you 100+ fps at 1080p? If you have a weak gpu then you shouldn't get a 120Hz monitor.

Of the two, the xl2411t seems to be slightly faster but I'd buy whichever is cheaper. I doubt you'd notice a difference
between 2ms and 1ms.

Some games don't even need the fps. Battlefield 3 does, but Sim City or Far Cry 3; no.

How about a 60Hz IPS monitor?

actually to run quakelive or quake3 or counter strike at 120 fps i don't need a high end gpu, just a normal one ( i'm buying one of these days a gtx 660 from gigabyte). For the other game you're pretty right, an IPS monitor would be surely much more colorfull.
But that's actually what i'm looking for: someone that can tell me if the color/quality image of the Benq is really worse than the IPS one

Have you ever tried a IPS monitor? The color accuracy just looks so much better on an IPS monitor.
I have both an IPS and TN monitors. The TN can be calibrated but still it's not a IPS monitor.

Personally I'd rather have one monitor that is a 60Hz IPS 5ms monitor rather than a 120Hz TN 2ms panel.
For games like Quake 3 I don't think it matters that much.

I never owned IPS i have try a few and liked them but not as much as i like 120Hz TN 2ms panel.I'd agree i do not think it matter that much for games like Quake 3.That being said if you play FPS-type games like COD or BF3, then having a 120Hz refresh rate is the way to go imo.
