SLI option no longer appearing

So I recently took my system (which was running fine), and watercooled it.

When I booted it up again for the first time, it didn't properly recognize my 670s (loaded the generic display driver, and trying to open the control panel gave me a "no nvidia cards installed" error), but reinstalling the drivers seemed to have fixed that.

Now the only thing that refuses to work is that it won't give me the option to turn on SLI. I've tried all the suggestions I could find (repeated driver reinstalls, beta/older drivers, moving/flipping the bridge, checking the cards are seated and powered and work individually, using Driver Fusion and doing as clean an installation as possible...), and nothing's worked.

Everything's identical to how it was before (even which card is on top), and I was quite careful putting the blocks on, so I don't think I damaged the fingers either... does anyone have any suggestions?

[It's an MSI Z77A-GD65, 3770k, two identical EVGA GTX 670s]

so let me get this straight. All the cards work okay individually but they don't work in sli?

have you tried putting-
gpu 1 in slot 1
gpu 1 in slot 2
gpu 2 in slot 1
gpu 2 in slot 2

to make sure neither the gpu nor the slots are faulty?

No, I haven't tried that yet - honestly I want to leave that bit of troubleshooting as a last resort, since it would require me to at least partially drain and dismantle the loop, which I'd rather avoid if I could...

Card 1 works in slot 1 (with displays only connected to it), the same for card 2 in slot 2; they're in the same configuration as when it was air-cooled, and SLI worked then.

They both show up fine in the nvidia control panel, too, just the "configure surround, physx" section doesn't have SLI listed anymore.
