Right now I am using the Realtek ALC892 sound card built into my motherboard to listen to the audio from bluray movies along with the rest of the audio from my computer. I am looking for a sound card with the ability to play Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, and Dolby Digtial Plus audio from bluray movies. Another requirement for the sound card is that it is able to play the bluray audio, Dolby TrueHD and others, via the analog 3.5mm connections. Is there a pci-e sound card out there that can do this for me? If not what are my options for getting the best possible sound out of my bluray drive

does your motherboard have spdif out or an hdmi out?
if your motherboard doesnt have it then does your vido card has any of the above?
because those can send untouched signals to a receiver which can provide more power then a sound card and maybe better quality audio as well

My motherboard and video card do support HDMI, but I do not own a receiver, nor do I own speakers for a receiver. I am looking to do the audio processing on my computer and then take the analog output and go directly to a set of speakers. Is there a way to do this?

on my second post i put a link for a asus xonar d2x which is of high quality and supports both DTS and Dolby Digital technologies while also having analog 3.5mm output jacks and digital output too in case you want to go the receiver way in the future
other options from asus only provide DTS or only Dolby Digital and not both
but you may find something better in the Creative Soundblaster line

Question: Why bother? Unless you are connecting to a receiver, theres really no point in bothering with any of the compressed audio formats; just have the media player decode the audio and play back the raw stream.

In any case, the only soundcards that have the ability to carry the HD audio standards are the ASUS HDAV1.3 and Auzentech HTHD, using the HDMI connection. *Most* soundcards can handle the decoding of the standards though, and if not, the media player almost certainly can.
