I am looking for a workstation. Especially for running Photoshop, Lightroom, AutoCAD, 3D-StudioMAX, but also for Avid and Maya (in future).

I see all these game computers (Core-i7-3930K machines with GTX680 videocards with a lot of power!!! and relative low prices.

What should be the reason for me to buy a dedicated professional machine with Xeon E5-1650 / Quadro K4000? for about dubble the price.

Please tell me something reasonable about it!

Thanks in advance

The difference is that commercial cards tend to not have very good compute performance. The 600 series, in particular, is HORRIBLE at it.

If you're looking for a cheap solution, either get a 7970 or a 580 - either of those will have decent compute performance, though not up there with the quadro or firepro cards.

1. none of the problems posted here
2. certified and tested drivers, that work with your software
3. professional service
4. reliability with ecc ram on the graphics card and on the mobo, a cooling concept that works for years,....
5. ....
And compared to the software licenses, a workstation is not that expensive.
