As stated in topic. When trying to boot my new build, I am met with a blank screen and debug code 53. According the the manual this is a memory initialization error. DRAM led is lit red. 24pin and 8pin power connecters are plugged in, I have also tried the 4pin. No output to monitors(connected via dvi) so no bios available yet.

New build consisting of:

*new parts for this build
MB: ASUS RIVE-bios 3404*
CPU: i7-3820*
RAM: 8GB 2x4gb g.skill f3-14900CL9D-8GBSR* (confirmed to be on QVL list)
cooler: NH-D14*

recycled parts from my 790i/qx9770 build
PSU: Coolmax-CUQ-1200B also tried Thermaltake toughpower 1000w
Video: EVGA GTX 580 classified also tried GTX9800

with the motherboard resting on the box it came in, I have tried:

reseating everything...multiple times...then again.
mb/cpu/cooler/vga only-debug 65 at this point
1 stick of ram in each dimm(attempted with both modules)-debug 53 no matter which module or location
resetting cmos/clrtc-removing battery for a few hours(12 as i was at work), replacing battery, powering on and holding the clear cmos button
flashing one bios chip to the next step up(3504 I believe...though i'm yet to be able to get to the bios)
as stated above tried different vgas
also as stated above i have tried different psu's

I have emailed asus support and am still wating to hear back, just spinning my wheels looking for the cause, bout convinced either the cpu or board are bad though i suppose both ram modules could be...not sure what else i can do to narrow it down since i dont have another 2011 cpu or board.

Though i havnt gotten to the point where it will be relevent i intend to use an OWC SSD for the build

any strokes of genius?

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I feel like I have repeated that process ad nauseam, though i will certainly give it another shot when time allows. However a stock fan is not included with the 3820(or any i7 iirc), so the nh-d14 will have to suffice. Every inspection thus far I have seen no bent pins, though I am looking with the naked eye as I lack a magnifying glass and my camera loses focus. All pads on the back of the cpu show evidence of making contact with the pins.

I updated it after troubleshooting(failing) for a couple of days. Each of the listed attempts was done both with bios 3404(shipped bios) and 3504

I dont believe the ram is compatible with my old 790i (only other ddr3 board i have around atm). I did try placing them in earlier today and was atleast able to get to bios with that board, though the timings were all askew. Perhaps I would be albe to atleast complete memtest on them with that board =/ will have to give that a try.

yes. all setup thus far has been done outside of the case using the box as a static free surface
