Looking for a card for photo editing/gaming gtx 660 vs radeon 7850

I have an older desktop (AMD fx5000, 4g ddr2, geforce 9800 gtx), and was looking to pick up a card to make photo editing a bit quicker (I commonly stitch 15-30 photos together) , and for some gaming ( witcher 2, dead island).

There are a couple of decent deals right now on cards (radeon for $145, geforce for $160). Does it make sense for me to go this route? I really don't want to build a whole new computer right now although I have been considering it. I was hoping a new card could help me delay a full upgrade.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Craig

(edit, I realize these two cards have been discussed a bit, but in looking through past threads the emphasis was always gaming in which the gtx 660 seems to have the edge. I wasn't sure if this was also the case with photo editing. If anyone has any suggestions as to if my older memory and CPU would be a significant bottleneck reducing the value of this upgrade that would help too. )
