cpu:amd a10-5800k
gpu:Radeon 7660d
Ram: Single- G Skill ripjaws ddr 3 8gb 1866 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231527

Basically I'm not seeing the graphic performance I thought I should out of radeon 7660d and looked into it. There are some bad amd a10-5800k and also it seems to depend on ram. I went from a single ram stick at 1333 settings to 1866 and saw a .5 increase in graphics on the windows experience index. If I added another (same) ram chip would that possibly help? I thought 1 8gb 1866 ram stick would be enough.

Well integrated graphics arent going to be very impressive, get a decent gpu the and 7770 is around the $100 mark and is a big step up from relying on igpu, if you really want to improve graphics focus your GPU, adding another stick of ram may help by giving you better memory bandwith, but you won't get the gains your looking for by adding a stick of ram

Yes, APUs LOVE RAM bandwidth, you have to think, most GPUs come with DDR5 RAM, and your APU is getting your much lower bandwidth DDR3 RAM, so going to 1866 was a good step, getting another stick of RAM will give you a dramatic increase in the capability of the APU to leverage your CPU and iGPU together. If, after you have added more RAM, you do not like your frame rates, the next step would be to go to something like a HD 7770 GHz edition or a HD 7790 or HD 7850 depending on the performance you're looking for.

Hope that helps :)

The Radeon HD 7660D is basically a little more powerful than a Radeon HD 5570. I would probably call it a "Radeon HD 5580". You can click the following link for some benchmarks that uses two sticks of 1866MHz RAM. How much performance are you loosing out with using single channel rather than dual channel memory bandwidth for the iGPU? Don't know... maybe 33%?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6332/amd-trinity-a10-5800k-a8-5600k-review-part-1/2

You can see that Trinity's iGPU does benefit from fast RAM in the following link. 1866MHz RAM is pretty decent, but using 2400MHz could yield another 5% - 10% increase (basically another 2 or 3 frames per second). I would guess that 1866MHz in single channel will provide you with lower performance than dual channel 1333MHz RAM.

You have 4 choices:

1. Do nothing and live with what you got.
2. Upgrade the graphics card to something that can actually provide the performance you are looking for.
3. Install another stick of RAM which will provide dual channel memory bandwidth for both the CPU and the iGPU. You should see a significant increase in performance. However, like I stated above you will get the performance that is equivalent to a "Radeon HD 5580".
4. Install another stick of RAM and a graphics card.

Obviously #4 will give you the best performance increase (unless you buy a crap GPU), but it is also the most expensive option.

+1 agreed...that's a fair breakdown of options.

In game it is pretty bad. I was only using wei because I saw people have far higher scores. Basically I'm getting another ram chip then when I feel like I can afford it buy a HD 7850. Thanks!

The new HD 7790 is about 90% of the performance of the HD 7850 and costs about $140-150
