ASUS M2NPV-VM AMD Phenom II X4 CPU Support

Been trying to find out if the M2NPV-VM by ASUS would run a AMD Phenom II X4 955.

No it does not support the Phenom X4 955BE because it is a 125watt cpu. The best cpu it officially supports is a Phenom II X4 945 (HDX945WFK4DGM),3.0GHz,2048KB,95W,rev.C3 and you would have to be careful not to endup with the regular Phenom II X4 945BE Rev c2 that is a 125watt cpu that would not work in for motherboard. I had one of those!

As utroz stated, you need to find a CPU of 95W max. I was very surprised to find out that Asus bothered to update the BIOS on this at all, since it is so old.

I found on Ebay a few days ago the AMD Phenom II X4 945 3 GHz Quad-Core (HDX945WFK4DGM) so I picked it up it is a 95Watt cpu and hope it helps the system live a bit longer need to get a new AMD board soon

Would it not hav been better to just save up for a new board & CPU instead of spending more money on upgrades for that board? Just wondering...

was looking at getting the ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 its not top of the line but is good price.

Just could not say no to the CPU it was so cheep and figured I would give it a go if its DOA it dont matter to much can get a refund on it but 25.00+5.00 shipping was a good deal

I successfully installed a AMD Phenom II X4 965 black on the M2NPV-VM with the latest bios 5005 and cpu stepping is 17. The cpu is 125 watts but the vcore is running at 1.1 so not sure if that is a problem or not.

think i may have posted in the wrong place initially... Doh! but my question is whether or not the deneb version of this proc will work in the board. just a tad confused about it.

I ad no issues with the 95watt 945 I think it was a deneb can't remember now I sold the system to swap over to Intel to give Intel a try.

I think it has to do with the core stepping of the CPU I believe the 95watt is C2 and the 125watt C3 as far as I understood when buying the CPU
