I just finished a new computer build to be used as a network file server and I installed my old i5 with a SILENX EFZ-92HA2 aftermarket heatsink. I also upgraded the thermal paste and got some Antec Formula 7. When I got everything booted up, I went into the BIOS and checked the hardware monitoring and it said that my core CPU temp was idling at 53 C. The cooler I got it supposed to be super quite, efficient and cool. I am wondering if I should pull off the heatsink and do a new thermal paste job because when I was installing my GPU, I accidently very briefly lifted the cooler off of the CPU. I am wondering if this may have messed up the Thermal paste job by doing so. Let me know if my presumption is correct and if I should re-apply my heatsink. Thanks

Typo error; he meant i5 760 - http://ark.intel.com/products/48496/Intel-Core-i5-760-Processor-8M-Cache-2_80-GHz

Don't get stuck on CPU temperature in BIOS, which is frequently inaccurate due to mis-coded lookup tables, and is where CPU temperature calibration originates. Core temperatures are factory calibrated and originate from the DTS sensors onboard the processor Cores. Download and run Real Temp and Prime95. Run Small FFT's for 10 minutes then post your Core temperatures.

Not really sure, but that is what was listed after "i5" on the actual processor face. I know that the "3570K" part of my current i5 is listed in the same area, so I just included it thinking it would be the model.
