Im looking for a good motherboard that would be good for gaming. One that would allow me to run games on their max settings like the upcoming game Battelfield 4. I know that a motherboard doesnt really matter but... i want a motherboard that can support the graphics card i will need and the cpu and ram to run these games on their max settings.

Any motherboard with PCIE 2.0 has enough bandwidth to support any high end GPU on the market currently. The question really comes down to whether you plan on running multiple multiple cards, overclocking, and budget limitations.

as long as it's got a PCIe slot at x16, which is basically present in all modern consumer motherboards, you don't have to worry about GPU compatibility, unless you're planning to use an AGP card you already own.

as for CPU compatiblity, you're going to have to give us the CPU & ram you're planning to use. maybe include your current config to see if you need an upgrade at all, just in case.

Flame war:

Intel Fanboy: "AMD users are poor and their chips don't have "real cores" in them. I don't know what those are, but they aren't cores. Real men can afford to upgrade their CPU and mobo every year to get a 5% performance increase."

AMD Fanboy: "My chip games and heats my house at the same time. Clearly the budget friendly choice. Just wait til Windows 25 when the software catches up and my FX will bulldoze your i7. "

Over.

It is overkill.

A gaming rig with a budget of $1000 can support gaming at 1080P without any difficulty. A GTX 660 Ti or HD 7950 should be good enough for your needs.
