hey all, I have a generic 500w PSU, running a core i3 3220 for the time being... I was curious as to can my dumb PSU handle intel core i5 3570k? if it can, then i'll surely gonna go for it... my other peripherals' are sapphire 6670 gddr5 1gb gpu, 4x 2gb ddr3 a-data gaming series ram 1600mhz, 500gb WD hdd, a DVD-RW and that's pretty much it... please advise!! thanks in advance...

oh and my mobo is Gigabyte B75M-D3H rev 1.1

The power draw difference between an i3 and i5 is 22W, unlikely to be the straw that breaks the camels back.
That being said, I would replace the PSU on general principle. Even if (and I stress the if, generics aren't known for being able to output whats stamped on them) it can supply the necessary power, its likely doing it at a rubbish efficiency and you have no idea how "clean" (look up Voltage Ripple) the power is.
