Hello,
I'm wondering if the intel core i3 is really not that powerfull against a i5 in games like CoD, farcry 3 and battlefield 3.
The GPU will be a GTX 660 2GB.

Thanks

For games which do not gain benefit from more cores, i3 is not that different from i5.
More to that is if the game can gain advantage on more cores i5 have definitely more benefit compared to i3.

Based on my subjective experiences comparing my old 775s E7200 and Q6600 (I ditched my E8400 and bought a second handed Q6600)...you gain however somehow more system stability if you have more cores...here is i5 better than i3....games felt smoother and have less stuttering(not fps) on more cores..

Edit:
I played Mass Effect 2 and AoE III with a Radeon HD3850 together with E7200 and Q6600.
Those 2 games were smoother on Q6600 than on E7200.

I have an I7, and had one for a few years now, no matter what they might tell you about how you might save money on this and that because the programmers have not yet implemented support for this and that invention, the software industry will catch up sooner or later - and utilize benefits with the latest hardware, the cutting edge hardware is sometimes 1-2 years ahead of the software developement, for instance Bioshock infinite was giving me a slight bit of graphic lag before I downloaded the latest drivers that was optimized for that game, while running at 2560x1600, but even if my graphic cards are a couple years old, I got 2x nvidia gtx460 in sli. More cores=better, more graphical processing ability = better, more is better period. If not today then for sure tomorrow.
