I have an I7, and had one for a few years now, no matter what they might tell you about how you might save money on this and that because the programmers have not yet implemented support for this and that invention, the software industry will catch up sooner or later - and utilize benefits with the latest hardware, the cutting edge hardware is sometimes 1-2 years ahead of the software developement, for instance Bioshock infinite was giving me a slight bit of graphic lag before I downloaded the latest drivers that was optimized for that game, while running at 2560x1600, but even if my graphic cards are a couple years old, I got 2x nvidia gtx460 in sli. More cores=better, more graphical processing ability = better, more is better period. If not today then for sure tomorrow.
