Hi,

I'm just about to buy a monitor for my gaming build. I'm on quite a tight budget and have been looking at the Samsung Syncmaster (VGA only) 21.5 inch (£89.95) but would it be worth paying the extra £20 for the 23 inch version which has both VGA and HDMI inputs? Also are these decent monitors?

Thanks

EDIT: I will be using a XFX double D 7950 GPU

Hi,

I think it would be wise. You'll get 2 inches more (it's more like 23.5'' rather than 23'') and you'll get digital input. Since you have great video card you'll get option to go with multimonitor setup in fututure. I would do it.
As far as models, syncmasters have always been solid displays, not best, but solid ones. If you are ok with contrast, and response time then you are ok to go.

Unless you need to play sound through your screen then HDMI is not necessary.

I think the question really is do you want the extra 1.5inch of physical screen size?

The resolution on these monitors are the same (1920x1080) and therefore the smaller screen will give you a higher DPI resulting in better image quality as it squeezes more pixels into a smaller physical space.
