Building a new gaming pc.

Purchase date: Wanting to buy it buy it at the start of May.

Location: Edinburgh

Overclocking/SLI/Crossfire: Maybe in the future

Monitor: Will be bought later

Upgarding because I've had enough of crappy laptops!

Here's my current list: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Spre3/saved/1rv1

What I'd like to get help with the most is the graphics card as you may have noticed in the notes. I have added the HD7950 for reference of roughly what I'm willing to go up to (£230).

Very undecided on which one to get, from the following four which do you think provides the best value for money?

SAPPHIRE HD 7870 XT /boost £170 - http://imperialprice.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=549090

GTX 650 TI (About £120)

HD 7950 Vapor-X (about £230) - e.g. http://www.valuebug.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=22193

GTX 660 TI (About £200?) - e.g. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/35540747/758102690/ASUS-GeForce-GTX-660-Ti-DirectCU/ListingDetails.html

I'll obviously take some opinions on other components if you think I can get better deals on this budget. Although it is £800 max I'd like to spend less than that.

Thanks!

This is a sub USD $1K build off Newegg

Here are benchmarks across 3 x 1080p displays

Suffice to say with the kind of $$/performance we get from highest end single GPUs there really is no need for CF/SLI for gaming on just the one 1080p display ^^ Just the one HD 7970 GHZ is all u need

@batuchka That's def an interesting approach! I wouldn't feel comfortable on spending half of my budget on the graphics card though.

@realchaos I plan on OC'ing although it's not something I'll be doing straight away. In other words, I like to know I can.

Well splash the cash where it counts is my mantra for the best value configs :D For a UK config using parts off Ebuyer

If you play mmos you don't even need to spend €600 on a computer, my little brothers €175 laptop allows him to play WoW, RS3, D3 and PoE medium - max graphics! Personally, if you still want a computer in your price range,http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2scgA
