Ram compatibility question

Solution
It will wok fine. It just won't be guaranteed to work at an overclocked. That board is under $100, so that is understandable. But you'll be good at 1600MHz anyway. And actually that is what you want.

It says it supports the "Asrock Z68 Pro3" so if you got the z68 version of the pro 3 instead of the z77 you would be insured it should work. The z77 and z68 chipsets aren't that different in performance, its about a 5-8% performance difference and only when the processors at peak, but you would only have one pci-e 3 slot.

I don't think I want to get a Z68 D: I'm getting an ivy bridge cpu so I prefer to get the latest tech with it, is there an equivalent for the Z77 version?

That's nice to know :) thanks for helping! I don't really need to overclock since 1600mhz and 2133mhz make no difference (or very little) when it comes to gaming so 1600mhz is fine for me.
