Skype & Apple Earpods?

I have a Lenovo R61 Laptop with XP on it and Skype & I have Apple Earpods. The Laptop has a headphone input and also a microphone input. Can I use my Apple Earpods to talk on Skype and listen to the other person through them at the same time? Or do I need some sort of extra cable to make it work?

Please let me know what to do...thank you for any help!!

No you can not, you can only use them for listening. The 3.55mm connector has 4 poles for the microphone and headphones to work together. Your pcs audio connecters suppourt only 3 poles. Phones however suppourt 4 poles to allow you to use both at the same time
