ok my rig as current is:

cpu: I7 2600k
mobo: p8p67pro
ram: 8gb
hdd: 2x1tb samsung 7200rpm
gpu: power color hd6950 2GB

now that's out of the way, i am looking to upgrade my gpu to allow me to play crysis 3 and probably bf4 when its released on MAX, i have two options add another 6950 or add a single 7970 which is best and why.

Solution

Under the circumstances adding another hd6950 2GB looks like the most cost effective upgrade for you, should perform as good as the HD7970 if not better. Also this xfire will require a XFX750W or GS700W or TX750W Power supply and good ventilation inside your case. Thanks

Splendid
If those are your options, you will not max those games with a 60 fps minimum. The only single gpu card that can max crysis 3 at a min 60 fps is a gtx 680. Im sure if you crossfire a 7970 you would easily max those games above 60 fps.

In console cryssis 3 doesnt have the best graphics but in PC, Normaly The difference isnt much from the maximum to 1 step down settings gives lot of performance boost in crysis3 but seems like the present trend in PC gaming is "We have to get the maximum setting playable as im not in console "
