Is this a worthy upgrade?

Hey guys I've been looking in to buying a new CPU and at first I was sold on the 3570k but now I'm leaning more towards the fx 8350 and I wanted Ito know if you agree, as well as any other input you can give. These are my reasons.

Firstly I already a have an am3+ mobo (asrock 970 extreme 3) so it will save at least £75 staying with the same mobo.
The 8350 is £30 cheaper.
I know the i5 performs better in gaming, but that margin decreases greatly when gaming at 1440p, which I do. (At least I think it does)
My current favourite games which are crysis 3 and bf3 favour multithreading.
Also the future of gaming is going to be the utilisation of more and more cores. Especially with the consoles using 8-core processors from amd.

I estimated that going with intel i5 will cost me around £160 after selling amd products while going with the fx will cost me £80 after selling current CPU.

These are my specs at the moment;
Windows 7 64 bit
8gb DDR 3 1600
Phenom 965 4.ghz 2800 nb
Asrock 970 extreme 3
1 TB 7200rpm
7950 2gb 1150/1550
Casecom 6988
Hyper 212 evo ( yes I plan to oc best as I can)

Cheers guys

Yes, I am familiar with that review...and he is right...some people who are intel fanboys want to detract from the fact that the FX8350 is comparable, but the results don't lie...

I think you'll be incredibly pleased with the FX8350, it's an outstanding CPU for anything and everything you could want to do.

EDIT: The only people who think the FX8350 is a failure are people who are uneducated and uninformed and have not done the research.

FX8350 will run those games at greater frame rates, and will give you solid multi-tasking capability. Plus Crysis 3 runs AMAZING on the FX8350...you should be able to OC to 4.6-4.8 GHz on Air cooling with your Hyper 212 EVO.

Rock it out man, for 80 GBP you should get a nice solid upgrade!

Crysis 3 also seems to favour amd architecture. And I do play more than those 2 games.... I'll list a bunch of games I still play. Tf2, sky rim modded, bioshock infinite, warface, bl2, pl2.

My main reason for wanting a new CPU is to see higher avg fps but mainly a higher minimum.

I think saying my setup is overkill is a bit inaccurate as most ppl recommend 2x7950 or gtx 680. If it was overkill my avg fps in bf3 wouldn't be 45fps

Ty 8350rocks, I bet u must be thinking, wtf is this guy doing its his 3rd post about the 8350, when's he going to pull the trigger lol. My reason is because its so hard to get reliable info. Some ppl say the 8350 fails and some ppl say its on par with the i5s in a lot of games. I just dunno who to believe. Logan from teksyndicate had a video showing the 8350 on par and beating the i5s on every game he tried at 1440p.

you're playing at 1400 resolution. how much do you need?

I really doubt, with the video card you have, that any game is spitting or sputtering.

if you want to spend the money go ahead.
