So I am finalizing my PC parts on Newegg and I was wondering what the difference is in performance between these two video cards:

EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

and

EVGA 04G-P4-2686-KR GeForce GTX 680 w/ Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Unless I am mistaken, the only difference is the first one has 2GB Memory and the second has 4GB. What kind of performance increase does the extra 2GB provide when I am gaming or just like surfing the web and watching videos or something. There is a $40 price difference so if the result is only a few more Fps with the 4GB I don't think its worth it.

What is your opinion?

Solution
Get the EVGA 02G-P4-2680-KR GeForce GTX 680 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card unless you don't mind spending $40 more
The 4GB is only useful on multi monitor high resolution.
For gaming @ 1080p and regular day to day use NO Need 4GB and doesn't increase performance at all.
Thanks

Edit: As cookybiscuit said going over GTX 670 you will loose a tiny few frames 3-5FPS but can save more
Im using a GTX 670 FTW by EVGA and it surpasses my expectation.
Highly recommended as a alternative to the GTX 680

I was just in your shoes.

I ended up going with the GTX 680 4GB w/ Backplate.

I only game at 1080p right now, but I do like to plan for future expandability. My rig is setup for SLI, so down the road if I grab another card I get to use the power of 2x 680's with a 4GB memory cap since SLI doesn't combine memory.

I also mess with user-made graphics mods for games like Skyrim, Crysis, etc from time to time, and some of those can dramatically raise memory use.
