I'm building my first gaming PC and I have a £480 budget and want to maximize the performance per pound

CPU+ GPU will take over half my budget and are the most important components and wanted to know what would be the better combo

FX 6300 + 7850
FX 8320+ 7790

Also could I do better with my budget
and what is the best budget £60 max fx mobo. (Crossfire/SLI not req)

Thanks for the time

I'd say FX-6300 with GTX 650 Ti Boost OR 7850, which ever is cheaper as they are both great value. FX-6300 would suffice for gaming and is future-proof as most games use a maximum of 4 threads. A great motherboard to go with this is the AsRock 970 Extreme3 - arguably the best budget AM3+ motherboard.

I personally have a 7850 and don't have any complaints.

I know it's besides the point, but really, you could buy FX-8320 with a 1GB 7850 and that would perform better than FX-8320/7790 2GB at the same price or maybe even less.

As for the motherboard, the 970 is currently the cheaper chipset for AMD. You wouldn't be able to find a 990FX or 990X mobo under 60 euros. The AsRock 970 Extreme3 I mentioned before is probably the best option in your case.

The best cooler you could find for 25 euros, in my opinion, is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. It won't be able to handle the FX at high clocks, though. So you'll only be able to overclock to an extent.

What resolution is your monitor resolution and what games will you be playing?

1080p, I more intrested in building a gaming PC for next gen of gaming rather than this gen as Ive given up hope on the console side of things Ive got most games on 360 (Probably bisoshock, tomb raider, Day z etc) I plan on using a gaming PC instead of a PS4/Xbox 720 for multi-plats and Triple A titles ive already got a WiiU for my nintendo fix which is great for me on the console side.

I would like to keep my system for at least 2 years before I upgrade a component thus a cheaper mobo is sensible as I would need to replace that, in terms of GPU im looking at 6870/6950 longevity thus I could extend and get a 2gb 7870 for £174 from amazon, is the 7870 is the most cost-effective GPU on the market now and could be future proof at max 2 years ?
