This is my first build so I dont know much about motherboards and don't know what you look for in good ones.

Below are some components that I have picked out thus far but would also take recommendations on those as well. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You'd want a Z77 motherboard. I recommend the ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Motherboard for $135.
This is probably one of the best value boards going around, as ASRock is known for a whole lot of features for not a whole lot of cash.

In regards to your power supply, I would not go with that. Rather, the XFX Core Edition Pro 650W is a good quality, efficient PSU. It goes around for roughly $100.

Everything else seems fine.

As always, please consider selecting my answer as the solution if it has helped. Thanks :)

Well, he's spending quite a bite on everything else, why skimp on the power source?
