Would 32GB quad channel memory work with an ASRock H77 Pro4/MPV?

I'm doing my first build and have decided on an i7 3770 with an H77 motherboard. I also want to max out the ram to 32GB.

Since the board is a dual channel with 4 slots, would a quad channel work with it since 1 kit comes with 4 sticks? I'm wanting to buy the 1600 speed memory. What voltage and latency would be good to get to get the maximum speed out of the memory?

I don't really plan to overclock anything as most of my computer use will be Photoshop, music software, and Linux virtualization.

Occasional gaming like Sim City, Metal Gear, etc. will be done but nothing hard core. I can always leave that to a new build around the z77 chipset. :)

Thanks for your help.

In base config you won't see any benefit from a quad kit. 2 dual kits will perform exactly the same and cost less. The only case a true quad kit might be preferred is if you are heavily overclocking and the quad kit syncs better with the memory controller. Even then I doubt it's been proven that a quad kit is more important than quality of motherboard and RAM itself. You're probably better off taking the savings and just getting higher speed/quality RAM.

I'm wanting the max of 32GB since the board only has 4 slots. What you're suggesting is a waste of money since I would end up throwing the 1x2 or 1x4 kits in the trash when I really need is a 4x8 kit.

I've heard good things about Corsair or G.Skill and will take a look into cost of 2 2x8 kits vs 1 4x8 kit.

Thanks.

1x2 means filling 2 slots. 1x4 means filling 4 slots. Either you can fill by 8GB x 2 or by 8GB x 4. Choice is upto you.

In most cases, here in this forum, experts say 8GB of RAM is fair enough for gaming or design/development works. So, even if you use 2 nos 8GB RAM, that will go 16GB of RAM, which experts don't recommend here. Issue of having all 32GB is so far, as per expert's opinion here.

BTW, what kind of super performance you are expecting from having 32GB of RAM?

Again, choice is yours.

When you have preloaded answer in your post, I wonder about the relevancy of replying.
