Just wondering whether to get the corsair ax860 or hx 1050?
My build is:
CPU: 3770k
Mobo: ASUS Maximus 5 formula
RAM: gskill trident 16gb 2400
Video Card: gtx 680 4gb card
4 hard drives plus 1 SSD
CoolerMaster HAF X

Keep in mind that i will sli another gtx 680 4gb later and i want this power supply to be able to do it. Both are the same price and i dont really mind that the 860 is fully modular over the part modular that the 1050 is.

For a system using two GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode NVIDIA specifies a minimum of a 750 Watt or greater system power supply that has a maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 53 Amps or greater and that has at least four 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors or two 6-pin and two 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors depending on brand and model of the graphics card.

Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Combined Continuous Power/Current Available on the +12V Rail(s) rated @ 45°C - 50°C ambient temperature, is the most important factor.

Overclocking of the CPU and/or GPU(s) will require an additional increase to the maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current ratings, recommended above, to meet the increase in power required for the overclock. The additional amount required will depend on the magnitude of the overclock being attempted.

The Corsair AX Series AX860 (SKU# 75-001305 / CP-9020044), with its maximum combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 71 Amps and with six (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors, is way more than sufficient to power your system configuration with two GeForce GTX 680 graphics cards in 2-way SLI mode.

The HX Series HX1050 is pointless.

Hi there!

I would assume this answer is also valid for 2x GTX 770 SLI setup, cause i'm aiming at the corsair AX860 PSU...
Was hopping to find a answer to this.

Thanks in advance.
