Just bought a new gateway monitor with an hp computer, monitor sys no signal, help!

My family just got a new gateway monitor and hp computer. We got everything all set up, and we turn it on and the monitor says no signal. The computer came with some instructions that we followed and the monitor zip. We have everything possible plugged in, what do I do.

Have you install the driver cd that came with the monitor?

How can he install it when he has no picture? Unless he has another monitor or tv to plug it into...

I assume had had the old monitor or he could get one from a friend. He has to start somewhere. He needs a working monitor to rule out a bad new monitor.

Try plugging it into the motherboard, or the GPU. Try a different cable.

Use the old monitor then set the resolution (from the desktop setting panel, not the monitor) to 1440 x 900 then shut down and replace with the new monitor, boot up then see how you go.
