So today I was cleaning the thermal paste on my cpu to install a new aftermarket cooler. Once I went and removed the cpu, I found that the cpu socket had a group of pins maybe 4 or 8 with an odd reflection. The pins appear to be aligned with their rows.

Solution
Look for service center help. They will charge you a nominal fee as it is beyond of manufacture warranty.

That will be cheaper than buying a new one.

Looking deep into your problem, I feel you shall buy a new mobo. But when you buy, buy some reputed brand, not like biostar kind of cheap brand.

Are you able to fit the CPU in its slot? And does your PC boot after using the CPU?
Normally the CPU PINs can't be bent until you mess up. If you didn't mess up then nothing to worry. Please let us know whether you messed it up ?

I have not tried putting my cpu. Im afraid it might fry my cpu. Right now ai have no choice but to buy a new mobo. If I do put my cpu back in will I risk it getting fried? Im thinking that it is too risky. Noe deciding between a Asrock z77 extreme 4 or a Gigabyte Ud3h z77. Thanks for the response Akashdeep

Are you that much sure that, your CPU pins bent? If so, then go for your local support center, it is recoverable(even I too did such).

Instead of buying a new mobo, first try to repair.

Yeah I did go to one of the local shops here and they said that it is bent. Its also almost impossible to bend them back since they are found in the middle of all the other pins. I tried it with a magnifying glass but my hands arent the steadiest hehe, i run the risk of bending even more pins and also run the risk of frying my cpu. But I will try to bend them would be awesome if I found a jeweler or someone who works real well on tiny pins. As for biostar I sent then an email few days ago, still no response from them yet... I also went and pulled the trigger on a Gigabyte Ud3h z77 mobo.

Its still under the manufacturers warranty, but I doubt they will take a board with bent pins.

I tried contacting them (Biostar) but havent got a response yet. Since all motherboard manufacturers have a no mercy policy on bent pins, im left here wondering what the hell to do with it. I just dont understand why these manufacturers wont repair a simple bent pin. They are the ones with the right tools for it....

Even so, I would recommend you to go to service center first. If they reject, then bring the thought of New one.

Eventually, these bent pins are repairable and official service center will help you, even if it is beyond of manufacture/parts warranty, they will repair it for a nominal fees.

Yeah I gave biostar a try, they are not too bad but they are still a work in progress. As for a new mobo, I went with a Gigabyte Z77 UD3H. I hope i made a good choice since this is my first Gigabyte brand mobo. Going to send out another email to Biostar for any kind of service on bent pins.

Wait and see. I said already, look for official support center first, before you purchase a new one.
