I replaced the power supply with a dynex 520 watt atx that says its compatible with intel and amd multicore processors. Still nothing. There is a light that comes on on the motherboard when I plug it in. Do you think I have the wrong type of psu or is my mother board fried. Im not much of a computer tech but I can unplug and plug back in so changing out the power supply was easy but beyond that im lost. Thanks for your help.

now you're completely positive you have everything plugged in correctly? have you upgraded any other parts? did your old PSU stop working?

Yes everything is plugged in, I triple checked. Nothing else has been upgraded. At this point I do not know if the old psu stopped working or if it was something else. I assumed it was the psu when nothing happened when trying to turn it on.

now this is a big thing with dells, sometimes thier power switches go bad, or you couldave jiggled its connection when putting the new psu in, could you check that?
