Need advice on MOBO, PSU and Case

Hi guys.

I upgraded my GPU and CPU in Jan time but have decided to sell the CPU and purchase an i5-3570k. I know Haswell is just around the corner but this will be more than enough for me.

I'm having a little bit of trouble with the Motherboard selection as I don't know a huge deal about them. I'm looking at the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H but i'm having some trouble with making sure everything is compatible.

My System Specs at the moment are:

CPU -AMD Phenom ii 965BE
GPU - GTX 660 Ti Directcu ii 2gb
RAM - 8GB
PSU - Ocz ZS series 650w
MOBO - ASUS m4a78lt-m
HDD - 1.5TB

As you can see, the new CPU and MOBO would be a big upgrade for me. Can anyone tell me if the Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H will allow the system to work. If you need anymore information then please just ask and i'll grab it for you.

Thanks

  1. I'd avoid Gigabyte motherboards - their BIOS / UEFI is very poorly designed, tends to reset settings, meaning overclocking is a HORRIBLE process, and has poor customer support.

I'd go with an AsRock z77 Extreme 4 or 6, or an Asus P8Z77-V LX. (Though I'd prefer the AsRock boards.)

As for the PSU, yours is fine, I'm not sure why you need to upgrade. Don't know what your case is, but it's probably fine as well.
