I got a PNY 660 ti and it's hitting temps of about 80c so I'm kind of worried i can hear it spin up hard and get loud like it's trying to hard.

How hot is to hot? I will be getting a new case with a front and side intake with back and top output for cooler air but it's putting out a lot of heat and i never had a video card get this hot before.

Do i need to get a gpu cooler or return the video card?

80 is getting a little hot, yeah - is that under gaming load or while running stress tests?

You don't need to get a GPU cooler. First off pretty much all of the Nvidia Cards are designed to go above 100C so 80C is fine. Secondly if you are still worried about that high of a temp then I would suggest you download MSI Afterburner. The program works with any Nvidia graphics card and will let you control how fast your fan is at all times. For some reason the stock fan speed on most Nvidia cards is set to only about 30%. But with MSI Afterburner you can set the fan speed to go all the way up to 100%. You can even set your own fan curve to determine how fast you want the fan to spin based on how hot the card is. Anyway I would try that out before actually spending any money on a new case and things. :)  Hope it helps. Oh you can get MSI Afterburner from the MSI Website. :)

I use MSI Afterburner and I'm happy with it. I overclock my 660 ti and the fans will get up to 40%, but my GPU never goes over 74C (Far Cry 3) or 68C (BF3).

If my GPU was reaching 80C then I'd be worried. I want it to last and want max to be around low 70s, but prefer upper 60s.

To help cool my GPU, I added a side case fan that blows air directly at my GPU. How much does it help? not sure, but seems like a good idea to try.

It's under full load ( playing Battlefield 3 max settings).

"update" that worked out great. I'm staying under 64c in BF3 it has an overlay for in game so you can see your temp and your fps plus more. Great tool!
