Hi! FINALLY, I have picked out all of my parts for my computer. I was reading article about overclocking, and thought I would try to apply it to my system! however, I need some guidance- A, should I do it, or not risk damage? HOW do I do it, and is it possible with my system?

Components, (can I do it?):
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock B75 PRO3 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1GB Video Card
Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 Full (64-bit)
Thank you so much!

1. Change your CPU to a K variety.
2. Put an aftermarket cooling solution in.
3. Read up a lot on the subject.
4. Have fun.

Start in small increments. Watch your temps and search for a steady overclock. Test it and then run with it for a week or so. Make sure you do all your daily activity tasks with it and then push a bit more if you want.
Testing it thoroughly is important. If you game, game on it, play media and do everyday tasks. The more you use it the more likely you are to find an instability in it.

Hope that helps and good luck! :)

You can't overclock with your current CPU as it's a non-k version... Also your B75 motherboard chipset don't support it either so you'll need both to start overclocking...

In fact you could raise the Base clock but even if you're lucky (105mhz is the max i've seen stable) it would be only 3570mhz max and you risk the data corruption, unstable ram, etc... it simply doesn't worth it...

You cant overclock with a non "k" intel cpu and also you need a Z77 chipset motherboard for overclocking. The non k intel cpus have a locked multiplier so you cant overclock whereas k model cpus have an unlocked multiplier and so they can be overclocked and also you need a z77 chipset motherboard for overclocking your cpu and gpu. With your current cpu, you cant overclock. Is this for gaming? If yes then why did you get a 2 generation old gpu. If your gaming, then you should really consider upgrading your gpu. You wont be getting much performance from a gtx 460. For a good gaming experience, you should really consider atleast a gtx 660ti or hd 7850.
