replace 1gb ram with 2gb on dell 1018 inspiron

i have replaced the ram on my dell inspiron 1018 (which was working perfectly before) now it won't start up. 5 beeps, pause 5 beeps, pause.

Any help.

Probably not seated correctly. Put the old RAM back in, ensure it runs OK, then put the new RAM back in.
Verify that everything is seated properly.
