Hi

I am a proper novice. But I was wondering if i could install an old ATI Radeon X300SE 128mb on an Abit IP35 pro motherboard temporarily. My current 8800 GT gfx card had blown so I am trying to seek out an ATI 7770 for under £50 through ebay. This could take a week or 2. In the meantime I have this old media centre pc lying around with this PCIe x 16 card in it.

I know it fits into the slot. Just worried how it my power up the card as it don't require a 6 pin connector or if it might damage my mobo instead.

Cheers.

More about : gfx card

I think it's a pci-e card so yes, you should be able to use it without any problems.

Nope, your fine. It will just be drawing power from the PCI-e slot. So yeah, don't stress.

Thanks alot for the replies.
Seems after installing, wasn't really worth it as I get 3 or 4 colours utlised on screen. So it is terrible compared to the semi dead 8800 GT. Maybe the 128 mb is too low for the motherboard and Processor.

Nope, that would be windows 7 and the old drivers. You can search some old drivers and see if you find more compatible win7 ones. Turn of Windows Aero too...

sorry didn't work as intended. I stuck in a ATI 5450 instead and that worked so I assume the X300 isn't compatible or faulty. But have bought a new GFX card for that pc now.

So thanks
