Accidentally formatted second SSD in RAID0 configuration

Hi,

I accidentally formatted the second SSD in my RAID0 config on Windows 8. My OS is installed in the first SSD so everthing still seems to run normally, but I'm wondering if that would have erased any important information to the RAID config that I should worry about? The second SSD never had any data on it (that I could see).

Also, is it bad to install a second OS on the secondary SSD of a RAID0 config? I was trying to install Windows 7 on the second SSD but it kept freezing so I gave up. Would that have caused any problems?

Thanks,
Truman

In a RAID 0 setup, you'd be writing to both disks nearly equally. Part of each file would be written across both drives.

If you can still boot to your OS on one of the disks you thought was in a RAID 0 array, you weren't actually running a RAID 0 setup.

Installing a second bootable system on each drive in your system will cause boot problems. You should use a boot manager to run multiple OSs on a single system or use VMs to run more than one OS.

RAID 0 is just silly - especially with SSDs...
What about RAID 1 (mirror)?
You enhance your data security instead of compromising it, and there is also a speed boost which is substantial.
