I am looking into getting an AMD X8 FX-8350... I currently have an EVGA 660 videocard... Im curious as to what Motherboard I should get that will be compatible. Ive gotten a lot of conflicting information and Im just lost on which one I should get.

I would like Overclocking support if possible, but this is not a huge must.

ATX preferred, No Micro ATX.

Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Actually it comes down to this: do you plan on SLI'ing in the future? The 970 chipset doesn't do it as well as the 990fx. The board I linked actually doesn't support it, but it does support crossfire. Doesn't matter since you own a 660 card. The overclocking will be about the same on either board though.

Best budget AM3+ motherboard in my opinion is the AsRock 970 Extreme3, $75. Or, as someone suggested before me, you could go for an ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 for the same price.

The next step up would be 990X/990FX. My recommendations for this is Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 or AsRock 990FX Extreme3. Any decent-branded (AsRock, ASUS, Gigabyte) 990FX board should be good enough. Check reviews and ratings before you buy a mobo.

Thank you all for your input. I currently have no plans to SLI. I would purchase a new videocard first, then to purchase a second one and SLI, it would be down the line to the point that I could very well be upgrading out of this motherboard anyhow.
