Do i need those fancy expensive MoBo's for overclocking?

I am looking for a Z77 motherboard to overclock my 3570k/Kraken X60. I don't need all those extra options.

the short answer is no but alot of higher end motherboards are better for it and the mid to low range boards are a bit more touchy. I suggest you look at the board you want to buy and see if it has the OC path you want.

A z77 Extreme 4 or 6 is sufficient.

Just get an extreme 4. It's cheap, works well, and unless you want a world record OC it will OC just fine.
