Hello,

I am planning on building a new pc. The parts would be :
- Intel Core i5 3570K
- Asus Maximus V GENE
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CL8 Dual Channel Kit
- Asus Radeon HD7850 DirectCU II 2GB DDR5 256-bit v2
- One corsair ssd
- One HDD ( 7200 rpm )
I have a Antec P180B case and Antec NEO HE 550 PSU that I have been using for about 5 years.
The PSU specs are :
max power : 550w
available power / max load :
- 79,2 W / 24 A for +3,3 V
- 100 W / 20 A for +5V
- 504 W / 3x18A for +12V
- 9,6 W / 0,8 A for -12V
- 12,5 W / 2,5 A for +5Vsb
My questions are:
1. is this PSU enough for the components mentioned above with NO OVERCLOCKING involved.
2. how about some moderate overclocking ?
3. how about if I would use the 7870 ?

Thank you.

Normally I would say yes, but given it's age it might not be putting out that amount anymore. All I can say is "try" and you will find out.

Edit: I don't know if the above two posters actually read the part where it said 5 years of usage.

You have enough wattage to power your system but the psu is 5 years old and a little date most psu use a single 12v rail. Parts also age the output may not be as high now and the capacitors and leak over time. You have nice parts, it'll better to get a new quality 500to 600 watt psu to be safe. If a psu goes it can take out many other parts.
