Hello (your name here). I recently upgraded my CPU. Since then, the fan has been running at 4000 - 4200 RPM constantly. I've checked BIOS for settings, but when I change them the fan jumps back up to 4000 - 4200 RPM. I've been trying to search with Google, but Google doesn't want to help me too much, it seems.

Anyway, my motherboard is an ASRock 970 Extreme 4 and my CPU is an AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition.

Hi,

What temps are the cpu reaching.
Did you replace the thermal paste ?

If you didn't or the heatsink is not seated well, you cpu might be overheating and therefore the fan running top speed.

It's running around 48ºC. The heatsink is seated fine and I replaced the thermal paste, but that didn't do anything.
