Hi, just wondering what ram would be gould for this mobo/cpu/cooler build. I keep seeing "low profile" aroud. Some suggestions on what RAM would be great. Would I be able to fit a pair of GSkill Ripjaw X's in?

mobo: ASRock Z77 Extreme4-M
cpu: i5-3570k
cooler: coolermaster Hyper 212

"Standard" memory fits under the 212 heatsink/fan, but the stuff with tall heat spreaders may require you to move the fan up a bit.

They do make even lower profile memory, but it is NOT needed with this heatsink.

You may have to move the fan up for your Gskill memory.

It clears the NH-D14 :)

Ok, so any suggestions on models? for me the more unassuming the better, black preferred. I find the Ripjaws to be a little gaudy.... No weird heat fin thingys and DEFINITELY no LEDs.

For sure.

With your board, the closest thing you will be near will be just the fan anyway(the fan can move up in needed, it will NOT need it with standard memory). If you already have the ripjaws, use em.

Don't, don't really know why I put that there. Is there anything else around like the vengeances? I ask only because I'm in China and the websites I looked at had them but all in white. I don't really want white RAM.

I do however get postage at the american embassy which means postage is like normal domestic US rate, just you have to wait like 3 weeks for the stuff to get here.

These links are all in Chinese by the way.

Yeh I can get it (ares): http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.30.DkWgb1&id=17630241313

do you mean to say the guts of the white is actually different? link(vengeance white): http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.296.jxDlFb&id=13354045072

The memory chips on the White version of that memory are designed to run at a lower voltage(they select the best chips).

From Corsair
Choose from 1.5V and 1.35V Models

1.5V Vengeance Low Profile DDR3 memory is designed to meet the memory specification of the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processor family. The Special Edition Arctic White Vengeance Low Profile memory modules operate at the ultra-low voltage of 1.35V, for ultra-quiet systems and other low-voltage applications.

Now to look at memory

I see some XMS3 that would work also some Adata and Kingston without large heat spreaders.

Honestly they seem to have LOTS of memory to look at.

Hmmm, I guess that doesn't actually sound too bad. Wouldn't look terrible I suppose, a bit of white in all the black.

Let me know if you need any help with translation or anything. That website I sent you to is kinda of like Chinese ebay, so I can link you to other stores too if you like.

I have a hyper 212 evo atm, on an ASrock z77 extreme4 mobo. the corsair vengeance ram fits fine underneath it. ^.^

I edited above. With it being like an ebay, that would explain the HUGE variety of memory they seem to sell.

Also explains why some show one price then change when selected.

Above I listed some of what I saw, but the Gskill seems to be prices better than most.

If you can get vengeance, my vote is for that. If not, anything with the same height dimensions should also work. Just my two cents!
