Hi all,

I am currently having some problems running the Samsung Kies application on my PC. Each time I run the application, it takes some time to load and after loading, it severely slows down my PC. However, after I close the Samsung Kies application, my PC speed returns back to normal.

Below is the systems requirement for the Samsung Kies application:

OS -> Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8
CPU -> Intel Pentium 1.8 GHz or greater (Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz recommended)
Memory(RAM) -> 1GB(Recommended)
Hard Drive Space -> At least 500MB
Screen Resolution -> 1024 x 768
Required Software -> Microsoft .Net Framework v3.5 SP1 or later,
-> Windows Media Player 11 or later
-> DirectX v9.0 or later

Below is my PC's current system:

OS -> Microsoft Windows XP
CPU -> Intel Celeron 2.53 GHz
Memory(RAM) -> 512MB
Hard Drive Space -> Much more than 500MB
Screen Resolution -> OK
Required Software -> OK

Now here is my question:

Will the Samsung Kies load faster and freeze my PC less if I upgrade my Memory(RAM) from 512MB to 1GB? Also, what will be the effect if I upgrade my Memory(RAM) to 2GB?

However, I do not want to change my current processor and buy a faster one because I have a tight budget and I can only afford a Memory(RAM) upgrade.

Thanks for reading

Regards
Jean Luc

Upgrading to 1GB RAM will help some. When running the application what does it do to your % CPU utilization?

Your system is older than most. It probably uses older RAM, like DDR2. This RAM is more expensive. DDR3 RAM is faster, and cheaper. When looking into upgrading the RAM, you should compare the price of the DDR2 RAM with the price of DDR3 RAM and upgrading your Motherboard (and in turn, CPU).

Hi guys,

Thanks for your fast replies.

I will upgrade my RAM to 1GB or 2GB and let you know the outcome.

@ Jim_L9: the % CPU utilization when I open the application is 93% to 100%

Hi :)

Go for 2 gb +.... 1gb will only make a small difference...
