Explorer.exe process end led to blue screen of death!!

I recently ended the explorer.exe process in task manager thinking it was the terrible Internet explorer. After that of course my taskbar and icons disappeared so I search for a solution online but later turned it off because it started to act very slow. Now when every I turn it on I get the blue screen of death and an error 0x000000074 it also says BAD SYSTEM CONFIG. I have tried restoring from a pervious point and the ram is okay. I have also used command prompt to access task manager and tried to start the process again but it won't let me.
What should I do?

Can you try starting in safe mode?

Also, I did some research and it's possible it may be faulty RAM. Try removing the sticks and trying different configurations to see if that helps.

explore.exe IS NOT "internet explorer" it is actually "windows explorer" and is necessary to run windows. the Internet Explorer is "iexplorer.exe" and not "explorer.exe" two majorly different things.

if you have the windows installation disk put it in and run from boot. run the repair option it has. Not the back up but repair.

The ram is okay and I can enter windows using safe mode.

oops edited my post to late i see. OK if you have the windows installation disk run the repair option it has. Not the back up but repair. this will ask you if you want to choose a back up point to restore from choose no and continue.

friend did same thing... to fix it he did a full reboot. Give it a try?
