I built my computer with a Main SSD for my Windows and a Secondary 1TB HDD for storage. Before it would boot up in under 10 seconds, but now it takes about 5 minutes. Not sure whats going on. Didn't install any new hardware.

Did you tweak or make any adjustments to Microsoft Windows settings?

Did you install any software applications, utilities or drivers?

Does your motherboard's system BIOS have a quick boot feature?

TRIM is a Microsoft Windows feature that was introduced with Microsoft Windows 7. Trim is enabled by default. A user would have to go into Windows and manually disable it for it not to function. When a pc user deletes data the Windows TRIM feature is triggered. It is nothing more than a message from Windows to the ssd indicating that data has been deleted. Modern 3rd generation ssd's are able to receive and recognize the message. Upon receipt of the message an ssd may or may not start the garbage collection process right away. Some ssd's...
Yes be sure you have Trim enabled like OPP says. As your SSD fills up it will slow down, move your download folder to your data drive. Transfer any large files off the SSD you can and delete your temporary internet files. Do you have a malware program on your system like Malware bytes or Spybot search & destroy? If not DL these install them and run them see if something has gotten on your computer.

Some ssd's wait until the pc system is in a near idle state before initiating garbage collection.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I do have computer security (kaspersky lab) and it does not detect anything malicious on my computer. also all my big files are saved on my hdd. only thing on my ssd is windows, chrome, hardware drivers, kaspersky, and maybe something else, but nothing new since ive built this guy. all new programs have been installed onto my hdd. ive had this computer for about 4 months now and its only been acting like this for about 2 weeks. only new thing ive installed has been tera online on my hdd. Also to be more specific, the boot up sits on the windows screen for a while (the windows 7 logo pulsing) and everything else is pretty fast.
