I'm looking to buy a laptop. I'm a gamer, but I don't play many CPU intensive games like COD, and I don't particularly care about high detail levels. I play low - requirement games, like Minecraft or XCOM.

Is it worth paying more for discreet graphics like the nvidia 630M, or stick with intel HD 4000? And similarly, is it worth upgrading to i5, or sticking with i3?

As far as I've seen, there seems to be no mid-way between gaming machines and business machines - what do I do to play 'casual' games?

I'm on a fairly tight budget, any advice would be much appreciated.

Skim through this article. It should give you a good idea of just how powerful the hd4000 is.

Thanks - this seems to tell me that the HD 4000 seems about as powerful as some other low end cards I was looking at - specifically, the nVidia 630M. However, there seems to be a big taboo on integrated intel chips - many friends have warned me to stay well away from them. Is it worth spending for an equal power chip just because it's discreet?
