Hello everyone!
I need a little help here, I have both the cpu and cooler in the title, but I'm having temp issues. I want to know if this is normal. I've reseated the cooler at least 5 times already with a pea size paste and still have the same temps if I just raise the multiplier. I've seen people with the same setup as mine, but they are getting lower temps (usually under 63c) at higher core voltage usually around 1.45-1.5 with just raising the multiplier.

My core voltage is a lot lower, but I still get high temps.
Core Voltage: 1.416
Core Speed: 4.5Ghz
Mulit: x22.5
Bus Speed: 200
HT Link: 2600
My max package temp after 10min of prime95 is well over 66c, with the average at 65c.

On the other hand if I lower my multiplier and increase the Bus Speed I get lower temp.
Core Voltage: 1.416
Core Speed: 4.5Ghz
Mulit: x20
Bus Speed: 225
HT Link: 2710

My max package temps never goes over 60c, and stays on average around 55-58c.
This is with 20min of prime95.

Is this normal? I'm beginning to think my NH-D14 might be defective or something.

Case: HAF 932
x4 120mm fans on side panel
x2 120mm fans on top
x1 120mm fan on back
x1 230mm in front

Thanks.

I think those temps seem about right. Under 60c using prime95 with a substantial overclock is not bad at all.

As for what others are getting, there are lots of factors that come into play. Every chip is different, ambient tempts, etc.

I wouldn't worry.

Anything below 80C is more than okay.

CPU's vary... I SHOULD be able to get a stable 4.5GHz on my i7-2600k but it twitches above 4.4, so I am fine w/ it at 4.2 stable.

Just do not cook it off... I used to pull 68C on my old AMD all the time while gaming...

Also thermal paste takes a while to go off before you get best thermal contact.
