I have a problem for some time now.

I have a new videocard ( Sapphire radeon HD5450,1GB,DDR3)

When i insert it into my mobo my pc won't start. I get a black screen and the starting ''piep'' doesn't go off either.

I replaced my PSU because I tought it might be psu error. I replaced it with a corsair GS600 but still the same problem.

My motherboard is a Foxconn 662MX.

Please help me!

I am leaning to think that the card my be faulty under powering a GPU can damage them. Do you have the same issue with any other cards (your old one)? Also have you tested that card in a different PC?

Follow Jonny's advice and test another card, possibly one with less power requirements, in your rig. If it works, then it will verify that your HD5450 is the issue.

You can't really get a GPU that takes up less power than a 5450... I would make sure the BIOS is updated: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000322

I had a similar problem like this with my 5670 in my parents old 775 celeron. It seems its an issue that a bios update would fix but some companies simply haven't updated the bios to fix it. From what little I have read into this it seems its some weird incompatibility with certain SB chipsets and 2.1 cards.

Not saying 100% thats whats going on here but its possible.

It should still boot, give weird errors or no display at all but the fans should spin and give you a post beep or several for an error. It is possible that the MB is looking for a different card setup.

Flash you BIOS before you update it, if something goes wrong during the update you will kill you MB

I can't speak for the OP but the problem I was having was most probably an incompatibility. The symptoms were as follows. I did the routine steps to install a gpu, uninstalled drivers, rebooted, changed output to PCIe, turned off, inserted 5670... (you get the idea) I was using a known good PSU and a known good GPU (as it had literally just came out of my pc where I was using it fine for months) no output from the card, no output from the mobo, no post confirmation beeps. Fans spun up and everything looked good, just absolutely no feed back from the system at all.

I went through my entire troubleshooting repertoire, went through almost everything on google. The bios was up to date, that chipset should have supported 1.1/2.0 (G41 chipset on a socket 775 board). Tried generic no post troubleshooting, one stick of ram, etc. Still nothing.

I put in an old 7900LE (I think that was the model number, it might have been a 7300LE) and bam, booted up fine, no problems or hickups of any sort. I was able to install the drivers and everything just fine.

I tried the 5670 in my system again. (an athlon 2x3 on an AM2+ board with 780 chipset) bam boots up no problems. So I tried swapping out their god awful TR2 psu for mine. still wouldn't boot (mine was an antec EA 500D, which is still powering a 6870 so it wasn't a power delivery issue, atleast not on the PSU side)

Still not 100% why it wouldn't work.
