out of interest - did you go from Nvidia to Nvidia? or was your old graphics a Radeon/AMD?
I have heard of issues when you change brand.. which is usually resolved by using the old brand removal tool to totally remove the old drivers.. then installing the new brand drivers...
Pls give a bit more background..

I went from an asus gtx560 to an asus gtx660ti not I've not changed brand at all

OK.. but you done the basics? checked your card is seated correctly? checked you got the right power requirements for your card (extra power connectors done? and PSU got enough oomph? )... sounds like you tried lots of old versions.. but you done a full uninstall.. rebooted (prob not connected to internet so windows does not auto update drivers).. and then do a full install (using the "clean install") option?

Whats the BSOD codes? any clue there?
Cheers

GPU is faulty.

Bug Check 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.

Basically, the display driver is crashing (likely due to the card being defective), and Windows tries to restart it. While restarting, the driver crashes again, and the BSOD gets generated.

Its *possible* its a driver bug, so try upgrading drivers to the latest WHQL version. Failing that, RMA the card.

I've tried the newest driver but as soon as I fire any game up you get to the game menu for about 10 seconds then it goes black screen and the system resets

Have you considered gamerk316 point that its a broken card? have you broken it by trying OC it or something? shorted it while fitting?
Can you try it in another PC? just to see if it bombs out there? if it does, it sounds like it might be a bad/broken card.

Cheers
