IP address failure

I'm using my college's LAN. My problem is that every 5 minutes my browser complains that it can't connect to the proxy server and i have to go and change the IP address to that of some other room. But I have to do this every 5 minutes. Can anyone tell me a solution to my problem?

it sounds like the DHCP lease time is 5 minutes, but it's not issuing you a new IP - have you tried updating your network drivers?

Did you contact your school's IT support? We don't know their setup, they would. Do you use static IPs? If so, make sure you are using the right one and that they have it setup properly.
