On the P8Z77V BIOS "AI Tweaker" page, there is a line named "OC Tuner" which is supposed to automatically overclock, and others have claimed that this is a relatively easy way to start off. However as soon as I push "enter" the computer instantly goes dead, and needs to be restarted by me (I only waited fifteen seconds though, but no sign of it restarting on its own). I don't know where to start with this problem...

Is it worth pursuing this or do I just get the Intel Windows interface for overclocking?

Solution
I don't know why anyone recommends any auto-OC utilities. If you can't manually overclock, you probably don't understand anything about temps or how to test stability and the like.

No overclocking in windows is never stable. The best way to overclock is to manually overclock in the bios. Raise the multiplier to your desired frequency then bump up your vcore voltage up. Its best to do this slowly and incrementally to achieve a solid overclock for example. Bump up the multiplier 3 notches and then bump the voltage up one notch and see if it will boot. Once you get your computer to boot with your overclocked settings you will have to run a cpu stress test program to ensure that the overclock is stable. Prime 95 is the program of choice for cpu stress testing. On average if you keep hyperthreading enabled i hear of ppl requiring 1.31 volts with their 3770k at 4.5-4.6 ghz. Good luck :)

The computer should restart after making clock changes , that is normal but... it should restart. Try what Firo suggests here (although I personally will not increase voltages until my first instability instance) but if you have issues with the PC shutting down while trying for higher clocks and not subsequently restarting, there may be a problem with your power - either on the mobo or from the PSU
