hi there, i'm having problem with windows 7 with around 127 seconds boot time, i've tried to do a chkdsk (with /f and /r as parameters) and doesn't seem to help much, and there is also only 3 applications active in startup section, avira, synaptic pointing device, and amd dual-core optimizer.

can anyone help me with this? what kind of information i need to provide here? thank you

Hello,

1) Click start (windows button) and type msconfig in the "run" box.
In the General tab, select "diagnostics startup."
Reboot and see how fast it boots.

2) Scan for spyware/viruses.

3) Check your hard drive fragmentation. 7 should defrag automatically but it never hurts to check.

4) Look up the make/model of your hard drive and run manufacturer diagnostics on it. If you have a PC from a large OEM company (Dell/HP) most of those have built in diagnostics. Run either the built in or manufacturer diagnostics on your hard drive. It doesn't hurt to run hardware diagnostics against the whole system either.

ya, it is only slow during startup, after loading the delayed programs, it is all smooth when opening files

i have tried all mjmacka said, except the diagnostic startup, will report back after i do that
